Hello from Sussex Central's County Commissioner

Lisa Barden

Summer 2018 has seen young members from Sussex Central County experiencing Residentials both at home and abroad.  Three of our members went on a Girlguiding LaSER trip to Malawi; whilst 17 went with the Coco's Foundation to build a house, meet up with South African Guides for a beach clean and go on a safari, as part of a Service Project, having spent the last year busy fundraising.

Various Guide and Ranger Units from the County went to our Girlguiding Foxlease house in the New Forest for Wellies & Wristbands with 3000 members from around the UK, this event is the chance to try activities, dance to the bands, meet new and old friends and be a superhero. I also attended this event and was snapped in my costume !

Other units having been campig locally or staying in Halls.

Gilwell 24 was visited by 14-17 year olds this year, see the Rangers page for information on this event.

Before the summer holidays we held our annual County Awards evening, and it was lovely to see everyone; for lists and photos of the awards, please see the Awards page.

Girlguiding launched our new programme on 21st July.  Many of our leaders have been busy getting ready to start phasing it in during 2018/2019.

As a County we will be holding our Brownie Reindeer Funday, before being joined by Rainbows, Guides and Rangers for the Reindeer Run in aid of Chestnut Tree Hospice.

Elsewhere, plans for our County 40th Birthday Celebrations are taking shape.

Hopefully you have all had chance to re-charge your batteries ready for the new year and new term please see our Events and Trainings page for flyers listing the various trainings, please note change of email address to register for these trainings.  trainings.sussexcentral@gmail.com

Thank you and see you all soon around the County.

Lisa

Sussex Central

Girlguiding Sussex Central is part of the biggest charity for girls and young women in the U.K. It was formed in 1979 and currently has a membership of nearly 4,500.

The girls have the opportunity to take on new challenges, have fun, gain valuable life skills and make a positive difference to their local communities. All this is made possible by the many dedicated Leaders and volunteers in the County.

The County, which broadly covers the Mid Sussex area of S.E. England, consists of 8 Divisions.
Please do look on the pages on this website to find out more about these Divisions and the activities and events they have been involved in.

To enable more girls in our County to experience Guiding opportunities, we are in need of more volunteers to ome forward and be Leaders. If you live in one of our districts and you or your daughter would like to join us, please register her/yourself on our main girlguiding website https://www.girlguiding.org.uk/get-involved/ or email us: ccgirlguidingsussexcentral@gmail.com
