Welcome to East Grinstead Division

We may be small with just two districts, Sackville and Buckhurst, but East Grinstead Division in the north of the county is very much thriving and can boast several Rainbow, Brownie and Guide Units, a busy Trefoil Guild, an active Senior Section and over fifteen young leaders working in various units.

From meeting ‘Owls About Town’, visiting the House of Lords and Bin Bag Fashion design to winning a 5 a side football competition against the cubs and learning new skills, it’s been a busy and productive year for all of us. Spurred on by a wonderful time at the International Camp WS2013 one guide group is even planning to venture abroad for the first time in 2015.

Five of our Guides have been working particularly
hard to gain their BP awards, and several more are due to complete theirs in the summer.   A particular highlight for the Rangers was horse riding through Ashdown Forest and a hike to Pooh Bridge for a game of ‘Pooh Sticks’.

Most of our Brownie units have had at least one residential weekend, with two of them celebrating a fun-tastic start to the Big Brownie Birthday at Butlins. Trips to the Observatory at Herstmonceux and to the local secondary school’s observatory gave many of them a real interest in the night skies which culminated in an exciting ‘Star Quest’ event where apart from numerous challenges and games, they were able to use the solar telescopes brought along by Wealden Astrological Society.

There’s lots of things planned for the remainder of term and we’re especially looking forward to a weekend at the popular local venue of Blacklands next year when all the units will be camping or staying in the houses and getting the opportunity of trying lots of new activities.

All units are run by volunteers and we always need more help to be able to offer more great opportunities to the girls and young women in our division.

If you live in one of our districts and you or your daughter would like to join us, please register her/yourself on our main girlguiding website https://www.girlguiding.org.uk/get-involved/ or email us: ccgirlguidingsussexcentral@gmail.com
